... and partial Solar eclipse

There are stories we tell ourselves about who we are that have nothing to do with the truth. These stories create patterns of thinking over time that influence our behavior. Sometimes we overcompensate for these patterns based on our perceptions. We do things like over give, to try and be enough, or not give all of who we really are, because we’re afraid of the judgment we might incur from other people, or ourselves. We doubt ourselves. We dumb ourselves down, and act as if we are less than we are.
Even under the guise of humility, sometimes at the root we find insecurity, or self-doubt.
This eclipse window has given us a unique opportunity to look at the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves, and to see the way they shape our lives. It's an opportunity to let the illusions fall away to see what’s true.
Some stories that need to fall away from our lives we’ve attached our identities to, so the release can feel painful, or we can feel lost without them. Some things that we need to let go of may be based on traumas we’ve experienced, or interactions with people in which we’ve internalized falsehoods about ourselves. Maybe the origins are from a family narrative ingested, and digested, so much so that it's become part of the fabric of who we are. Whatever the origin, we're being gifted a momentary glimpse of a blind spot.
Whatever the history, this is an opportunity to let go, leave behind, and move forward from.
The word that came to me is “emerge”. The context is the lifecycle of the dragonfly. Born a water nymph, transformed into a mystical creature of the air, with translucent, iridescent, magnificent wings catching the light.
There are times in our lives, like the dragonfly, when we need to shed an outgrown skin and emerge as the new version of ourselves. This is one of those opportunities. I feel like this eclipse season is a turning point in the larger framework of the Neptune/Saturn dance that is slowly, methodically dismantling illusionary constructs that have seemingly held together the fabric of our lives. These old constructs (or old skins) are built on the foundation of old beliefs, and are not stable enough to contain us moving forward. It’s time for us to tell a new story about ourselves. It’s time to emerge in truth.
We can think of the Sun as representative of the core essence of our identity. With the Sun partially eclipsed at the time of the New Moon, it can feel as if we’ve lost touch with our true essence for a moment. We see the shadows that we’ve identified with instead. Opposite Saturn, we’re challenged to contend with the reality of the situations in our lives. We’re meant to see things as they really are, regardless of how we feel about them.
This is where faith comes in. When people think of faith, they usually picture Jupiter. Jupiter boosts our faith by bringing expansive opportunities into our lives. Saturn grows our faith by asking us to remain steadfast in the face of difficult realities. In Pisces it asks us to root into our spiritual and creative practices, even when we feel contracted, or discouraged. This is how we put one foot in front of the other.
In the in-between we can’t conceptualize what we are becoming, just as the water nymph cannot conceive of what it's like to have wings. But in order to evolve we need to recognize the truth of who we are, and who we aren’t. Some kernel of our true identity will carry us forward into newness and wholeness.
This is the second New Moon in Virgo this year. A rare treat! Like a Blue Moon. It’s as if the Universe said, “ya… that first Virgo new Moon wasn’t so thrilling. We got to see the shadow side of Virgo pop up. We’ve spent the last month seeing it, sitting with it, and making peace with it. Now it’s time to move forward into the high expression of Virgo. It’s time to focus on what we have to share that can make the world a better place. If we can love and accept ourselves, then we can share our gifts from a place of wholeness. Wholeness begets wholeness. Healing begets healing. Loving ourselves unconditionally allows us to unconditionally love.
So, let’s forgive ourselves the past, let's accept ourselves as beautifully imperfect, and let’s emerge from those old skins so that we can move forward in service of the greater good.
In my heart I believe this is the work we’re called to now.
Sending so much Love,
Elizabeth
