... and Total Lunar Eclipse

1:38 am HST, Tuesday, March 3, 2026

The Full Moon in Virgo is accompanied by a south node total lunar eclipse. This is potent, and this is significant.

The energy of 2026 is go-gO-GO!!!  And it calls us to rise up and move forward!  Those catalytic forces have already begun to stir within the cauldrons of our souls. With the New Moon post, I talked about the lifting of the kapu, which is likened to the dissolving of restrictions, and the acquisition of freedom.  (You can read it here: https://www.roseastrologyandmassage.com/post/musings-on-the-new-moon-in-aquarius-2026 ) It’s an electric, stimulating feeling, as if racers are ready to line up at the starting line, anticipating the burst of adrenalin when the gun fires.

All good beginnings, astrologically, open with a pause, or review. Such a large new beginning as this boasts both.  Eclipse season brings a pause, and Mercury retrograde (ruling the Full Moon) brings a review.

Eclipses tend to book end large chapters in our lives, and have a karmic or fateful flavor to them. This one is no exception.  On February 17 we had a north node, annular solar eclipse in Pisces. If we choose to work with these eclipses, and tune into their teaching, ideally, at the New Moon, we feel the seed of a potent new beginning. This one, idealized  the dream, the vision, or the goal, in our lives. We feel what we are hungry for.

Now, with a south node total lunar eclipse, we have the opportunity to purge. Building towards the Spring Equinox, a change in seasons is indicated in the physical realm. We’re leaving behind the cold, damp, yin, inward territory, and moving into longer days that are hot, dry, sunny, and yang. Have you noticed a lot of folks coming down with colds lately? Bodies are purging.  This is a lovely time for a gentle cleanse, by the way, to naturally support the process. Extra sleep, and water, are a good idea too while we're at it!

Spiritually speaking, a south node lunar eclipse in Virgo, at the full Moon, is likely to bring about real life circumstances to clarify the inner work of soul-purging that is ready to happen.  This is a BIG release, before a BIG new beginning. A lovely time to pause, and pay attention to what is showing up.  Virgo red flags… victimhood, martyrdom, shame, self-loathing, and the trap of perfectionism. The healing? (North Node in Pisces)  Infinite compassion, and unconditional self-love. (Have you ever felt like it's so easy to love your friends, but hard to love yourself? This is the deep work!)

Now… Mercury retrograde… Mercury is reviewing 22° Pisces to 8° Pisces. Where the North Node sits in this moment, is where Mercury is aiming to land. Saturn and Neptune just left Pisces and entered Aries.  This is as if Mercury, messenger god, is saying, “Wait!  There are Piscean gifts you need to take with you as you move forward into the next chapter. Take the time to slow down and experience and feel them fully, so that they are a part of you from here forward.

So, what spiritual and creative gifts do you feel in your heart that you’d like to cultivate? This is a time of coded dreams, meditative messages, and psychic knowledge. If that sounds too “woo-woo”, just think of it as a time of access to deeper understanding about the inner workings of our lives. Here’s the thing, if we rush through this, if we blink, we could miss it. Mercury wants us along for the ride. And its sure to take the scenic route. We need to try our best to be detached from rigid schedules between now and the 20th, when Mercury stations direct. It’s worth it!  So, buckle up, have your spiritual and creative practices as your ever present co-pilot, and prepare for lift off with the winged messenger!

Eclipses often bring interesting turns of events. They tend to highlight karmic underpinnings. Jupiter in Cancer in aspect with the Full Moon may increase the volume on our feelings. It also brings in themes of home, family, and belonging. Remember with south node eclipses, we're working with letting go. If the past is surfacing, that Jupiter in Cancer is offering healing along with the release.

Now, for a full Moon in Virgo… What does it indicate? What are we feeling called to bring to fruition in our lives? I believe we're entering a time when manifesting spiritual values into the physical world can happen more rapidly. Pisces reveals visions and dreams, and Virgo knows how to organize and work to bring them into reality. Another layer... Virgo has the heart of a servant. The kind that truly cares about making the world a better place.  It isn’t afraid to roll up its sleeves, and get to work! Here’s a prayer for the Full Moon in Virgo, “Dear Divine Source of Love, please lead me to the right work that is in alignment with the gifts you’ve given me, and the highest good for all.”

Amene, A’ho, and Ola!
