A New Moon in Leo is a glorious event! This one is exact at 9:11am on Thursday, July 24 in Hawaii.
I like to think of August as the year’s golden hour. Warmth and sunshine has settled into our bones, plant cycles are at their peak before harvest, this is a time of abundance!
Leo! The King! The Queen! The Child. The Performer. Each of these archetypes speaks to an aspect of this sign.
Leo is about developing the courage to be ourselves, to shine, and to be sure that what we are radiating is authentically ours. Unashamed and unleashed.
In Leo we develop our personality, the ‘ego’ is formed. The ego gets a bad rap, but in order to be human we need one! Leo relishes in this earthly life, and finds joy in living.
Looking at the chart for this New Moon , immediately what stands out is the Sun’s exact opposition to Pluto in Aquarius. The Sun is light, Pluto is the darkness. The Sun rules the heavens, Pluto rules the underworld. When Pluto faces us we are coming face to face with our shadows, and there’s no getting around it. We’re often reminded of old patterning that has been harmful in some way. In Aquarius, we’re likely looking at the wounded feelings of not belonging, being outcast, or being labeled as “other’.
We may be reminded of the parts of ourselves that we have banished into the shadows, a sort of self-rejection, if you will. Or, we see ways that we have disassociated from the parts of our lives in the face of defeat as a coping mechanism. Pluto may open our ears so we hear those lost parts of ourselves calling to our hearts, longing to be reintegrated into our souls and psyches.
Pluto is not for the faint of heart. But do take heart. Leo is ALL HEART! There’s a new level of wholeness waiting for us, an opportunity to ask ourselves, “Who am I now? Now that I have lived, changed, learned, aged, grown, experienced…” And we answer ourselves honestly, from a place of self acceptance and love. And then, we share with the world, “This is who I really am, all of me, and I’ll shine!”
Also, with this Pluto opposition, you find yourself feeling opposed by external forces that feel overwhelming, let's remember that our power lies in how we choose to respond (or not).
As Mercury continues to retrograde towards the Sun, more and more of our hearts will be revealed to us. And, with Mercury in Leo, think like a Lion! Be courageous! And let’s make moments to laugh, to find joy, to be in the present moment, and to not take life too seriously. In this way we find balance.
As the New Moon sextiles Uranus in Gemini, and trines Neptune in Pisces, memories and dreams may become more vivid. These are mechanisms for increasing awareness of the pieces of our past that need healing, as well as wisdom for how to be present and move forward. Listen ~
Mars conjunct the south node of the Moon in Virgo may sound like the ever present inner critic getting louder, and pointing out our faults. Here’s a few ideas with Mars in Virgo square Venus in Gemini.
When self-doubt tries to become louder than your own true knowing, try getting outside and moving your body. Get your heart pumping and engaged, and see how that feels! Mars likes to move! Clean out the dusty corners of the closet and donate what you no longer use. Mars likes action, and that’s some Virgo action.
Also, consider spending time connecting with friends. Go for a walk and chat! You’ll both be lifted up.
Cheers to the New Moon in Leo, and to realizing each day presents the gift of a new canvas for us to paint our lives on.
Much Love!
Elizabeth
