Musings On... the Full Moon in Taurus

The Moon loves Venus-ruled Taurus. After all, the Moon is Gaia's celestial partner, and Taurus is all about the terrestrial. The simplicity of natural rhythms, Nature's rhythms, the innate knowing of her creatures, the dependable turning of the seasons, the hum and symphony of life...
To immerse ourselves in these pleasures is a most Taurean act. About as pagan as they come, this sign celebrates what it is to be alive. The sensual, earthy, instinctual, physical, sensorial experience. So today, I hope you'll give yourself the simple pleasures. Time outside, comfort food, a steaming cup of coffee or tea, rest, movement, music. Whatever brings peace and that deep sense of comfort.
Why is comfort important? It gives us a sense of being secure, held, cared for. Taurus motivates us to tend to our security. That means that our resources are healthy and in place. Finances, shelter, food, work, friends... This is a time to nurture all that aids in allowing us to feel secure in the world.
Let's go a layer deeper... because, after all, this Moon sits with Chiron, opposes Venus who, just Friday was cazimi, and squares Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. Naturally, we're going deep here.
Beneath paychecks, taxes, and grocery bills, Taurus asks us to invest in our inner security. When the layers of life such as identity, work, and the roles we play get peeled back, from where do we draw our innermost security? If you haven't yet read Friday's post about Inanna's story, please do. It is a story of the stripping away of everything known and secure, in order to find one's essential self. This Full Moon time is asking for our willingness to see beyond our circumstances, to what they reveal about our foundations.
Let’s not forget that Mercury stationed retrograde in Scorpio, square the Moon’s nodes on Friday. The next three weeks give us ample time to be with what has arisen. The nodes are in the Leo/Aquarius axis. Of course these two are polar opposites, and we know that midway between the push and pull of oppositions lies a commonality. These two signs share authenticity as their aim. Leo, the cosmic child says, “look at me … mom, dad, spouse, boss, friends, world… aren’t I great! Being seen, recognized, and appreciated instills a sense of worth and purpose. Aquarius is the adult version that says, “regardless of whether or not anyone else approves of me, I will stand in the truth of who I am. I will be authentic to my values.”
We live, we get scraped and bruised, we develop calloses and scars, we heal, and we're wiser for the experience. Inanna may have left her innocence in the Underworld, but she emerged stronger, wiser, and more humble. Taking responsibility for her choices and actions empowered her. Her sense of security was now rooted within. She found her unshakable foundation. The ultimate aim of Taurus is to help us find serenity, the kind that comes when we stand on a solid foundation.
We may be asked to revolutionize our perspective on things, we may be asked to forge new spiritual ground, we may be asked to make a descent, we may be asked to ascend renewed, to evolve from naiveté to strength, wisdom, and humility.
Happy Full Moon in Taurus. Don’t forget that steaming cup of coffee!
