I've Been Thinking...

About Merury Retrograde in Leo

As we near Leo season, this one’s fires burn steady and mellow and stoke the embers of this sign’s heart. .  I’m thinking this is about a change in perspective… an opportunity to look at our lives from a different angle.  

What if we could step out of our own lives, walk about a football field away, turn around, and take another look?  Now what if we hike up to a mountain top, and look back… 

What might we notice that we don’t see on the daily?

Where have our lives been lacking joy?  Where is our creative energy due for a boost?  An upgrade?  Where have we fallen out of alignment with that part of ourselves that is so real… so raw… so in the moment…   the part that just has to let our hair down, and put on our dancing shoes! 

What do you do to play?  And when you do… who are you? 

This may sound light and shiny… but this is serious business!  

Life is heavy.  So?  Who are you?  Are you heavy? If you unburden yourself from tomorrow, and yesterday, if you stop all pretenses meant to please your lover, your friend, your child, your parent, your employer, your…. Anyone but you.  If you put down the fear voice, and dial up the authentic voice…

Does that sound selfish?  That’s not the point.  The point is, in Leo, we develop the ego, the “I” the “I”dentity. It’s about becoming who we are, unhindered, unabashed, undisguised and disclosed. 

Eww… disclosed? Now I feel naked!  And now… we’ve come to the heart of Leo.  Do we have the courage to ‘really put ourselves out there?’  Like.. really? 

Folks will come along to help us out. Mercury stations sextile Venus in Gemini.   Some will reflect back to us what we put out, so we can see ourselves more  honestly.  Some will offer new perspectives, points of view never before pondered.  What a gift!  If some of those reflections feel like swallowing a jagged pill, well… stop being hard on yourself, and just get curious about it. See if there’s something to be learned.  

As the Sun opposes Pluto on the 25th, prepare to face your shadows. Some battles we aren’t meant to win… we’re meant to be changed. In other words… Loving the unloved parts of ourselves is the goal, rather than continuing to cast those parts of us away.   Later Mercury will station Direct  in a close opposition to Pluto ~ hopefully bringing a new perspective, and a deeper respect for those “unlovable” parts of ourselves that help teach us who we really are. (and who we’re not)

August 1st sees Mercury Cazimi… this means one with the Almighty Sun.  9°1’ Leo. A come to Jesus moment… rather, a ‘come into our own’ moment.   Epiphanies, enlightenment. (Let’s not relegate this term only to the Buddah.  In Light.  Or to put light in.  That’s what I mean.  Illumination. The influx of Holy Wisdom (we hope!)  This is a day to pay attention, and to listen to the heart, or with the heart.  Afterall, on this day the Cosmic Mind and Cosmic Heart are United!
