The Aries/Libra axis revolves around themes of partnership and autonomy, group identity vs. self-identity, cooperation vs. boundaries, yes vs. no.

Libra, ruled by Venus, has to do with beauty, grace, and relationships. It instills charm, diplomacy, the inspiration to relate, and takes into account the perspectives of others. It tolerates the complexities that come with having two perspectives that are equally true, but perhaps aren’t completely compatible. Aries, on the other hand, is single minded, self-focused, driven.   It sees its goal and will not be stopped.  Compromise doesn’t belong in the realm of self-assertiveness. It competes to win.

So how do these two opposites reconcile? How do they support one another in mutual growth? Here’s the thing, we cannot fully merge until we have a sense of self, we cannot cooperate functionally unless we have boundaries.  It’s the old adage that in partnership, two half- people don’t make a whole.  Two whole people make a whole. There must be independence to have interdependence.

We are about to go forward into a season with a great deal of Aries energy.  This moment shows us the beauty in balance.  This moment reminds us that once we are whole, (not perfect, but whole)  we can be part of something bigger than ourselves, without losing ourselves in it.

Here’s another angle on the same archetypes.  Aries times are stressful. This is by nature. Aries teaches us to develop courage, fortitude, and assertive qualities. These traits are not developed in a vacuum, they are developed under pressure.  The stress serves a purpose.  So here’s the thing, A full Moon in Libra teaches us to also move towards balance, towards beauty, towards peace, towards what makes us exhale. In this way, we can sustain our inner equilibrium in the midst of energetically intense times.

Venus guides the way with this Full Moon.  Listen to the instincts of the body, calm the nervous system, be in the environment that feels most supportive of your wellbeing and thriving.

Venus moving into a square with Pluto will help us to take a deeper look at what is underneath relationship roadblocks.  Where can we not compromise, and why? What does it look like to be autonomous within our relationships?   Jupiter in Cancer square the Full Moon brings in big feelings, especially around themes of home, family, and belonging.

There’s much under the surface here.  It isn’t a simple “me vs. them” question. It is a time to take a deeper look at relationships in our lives, and where true peace is found.

Another thought… With the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries, it seems to me we are given the opportunity to learn to do Aries in a new way.  Not for selfish gain, but from a place of sovereignty and in connection to the Divine. This is highly creative energy… passionate and driven.  In this way we approach the high expression of the archetype.

Happy Full Moon in Libra!
