Musings On... the Full Moon in Pisces
And Partial Lunar Eclipse
Thursday, August 27, 2026 6:18 pm HST
Aloha,
Today the Moon is full in Pisces, with a partial lunar eclipse. Eclipses happen when the New, or Full Moon occurs close to the Moon’s nodes. In this case, the North Node of the Moon has just moved into Aquarius, and the South Node into Leo.
This will be a North Node eclipse, the Moon just 5 degrees from its node. North Node eclipses show us what we’re moving towards.
Opposite the Moon, of course, is the Sun, and Mercury, the two of them in close proximity to the South Node of the Moon.
In addition, Uranus in Gemini is square the Full Moon. Venus just finished an opposition to Saturn, and Mars is beginning a square to Saturn.
Whew! That’s a lot. So…what does it mean?
A Full Moon in Pisces is naturally a time when there’s a greater opportunity to tune in to the Spiritual world, and our own inner creative energy, or mana. It's a time to get quiet, tune in, and receive a vision, and/or focus on our dreams. What dreams are coming to fruition? Where is our heart focused now? Next to the North Node in Aquarius, we’re to do this in a way that is unique to us, that aligns with our highest truth. There’s a calling here to evolve more fully into the truest version of who we are. In Aquarius this often happens in contrast to our familial or social conditioning.
This is echoed by Uranus, planetary ambassador of Aquarius (thus ruling the North Node). Uranus is in Gemini asks us to break free from old thought patterns, mental loops, and ways of perceiving, and communicating. There is something here that we need to be done with. Sometimes (not always) this planet brings something unexpected or seemingly "messy" to invoke change, and help us get more clear about our priorities. It can feel like the deck of cards was thrown into the air, and has landed in a mess. Picking them back up gives us the opportunity to rearrange them according to the next game we want to play. (but it's work! And it takes a minute!) The square aspect indicates challenge, or friction. It works like a skipped step, that must be faced and dealt with before we can continue on. This change is not easy, especially because we are dealing with ingrained karmic patterns.
Mercury conjunct the Sun is called Mercury cazimi. That word always sounds to me like what a magician would say while pulling a rabbit out of a hat! Mercury cazimi often reveals something. We get messages or information that help us understand a situation. In this case, conjunt the South Node of the Moon in Leo, we're uncovering something about ourselves that's ready to change. Something that was unseen is being brought into the light. We’re being given an opportunity to see our blind spots. To understand where we operate in default mode so that we can rearrange and repattern ourselves to what aligns with our current values. Because the cazimi happens in early Virgo, we're supported in doing the work needed to bring the necessary changes into fruition, and realign ourselves.
Seeing clearly can be painful when we discover things about ourselves that we wish were different. Seeing and understanding is the first step to growing and changing. Be brave, don’t look away, and add a generous portion of compassion to the mix.
Meanwhile we’re being asked to take a very realistic look at our partnerships, and family dynamics, and learn what needs healing within us in terms of how we relate to the important people in our lives. This may be where the blind spots are revealed, and emotions may run high. It’s so important to have unconditional love for ourselves as we move through this process.
Let's do the work! The goal is to grow, change, and evolve. To connect even more with our highest selves, our soul - connected to the Divine. I'll preface this next bit with a disclaimer: I'm inserting some personal musings here. If it doesn't resonate for you, please chalk it up to my individual reflections.
I’ve been feeling this for a while as we move into the Age of Aquarius. I think there’s a message here, about the Divine within us. I think the way we relate to our Higher Power may be shifting a bit. Just as much love, just as much connection, but more within, rather than seeking outside of ourselves. As we take responsibility for ourselves we’re empowered. No more victim. Empowered, we can focus more on co-creating our lives with the Divine.
Ok, Happy Full Moon in Pisces. Sending love and blessings your way.
Take care,
~ Elizabeth
