**no recoridng this time, please enjoy this write up! Cheers : )
The Theme
Letting go of perfect. Letting go of shame, guilt, worry, and all the other emotions that arise from the angst of perceived imperfection. Letting go of playing small. Getting out of our own way to let something bigger move through us.
These are some of the themes of the Full Moon in Virgo.
A little bit about the Sign
Virgo, the Analyst, the Perfectionist, the Craftsperson, the Servant, the Martyr.
These are all archetypes of the 6th sign of the Zodiac. Motivated by a deep drive to work towards growth, and improvement, Virgo analyzes each detail until it finds the minute mistake, the miniscule flaw, the weak link in an otherwise intact chain. Genuinely wanting to help, Virgo points out what needs to be made better. It’s a gift actually, to see the ideal version of something, and simultaneously grasp the humbling reality. This enables positive change. Aimed towards growth and improvement, this sign is unstoppable.
When these traits are exaggerated, however, Virgo can become dissatisfied, and therefore overly critical of self, and others.
If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of a Virgo’s critique it can be excruciating. Usually a harsh judge is simply projecting an inward dissatisfaction onto others. That inner critic can be cruel, and destructive. Folks with Virgo karma may have internalized impossible expectations set upon them from an outside source, and have low self-esteem based on a feeling of not “measuring up”.
Quite capable, and with a strong work ethic, Virgo can be tempted to take on more than their fair share of responsibility, and consequently burn out. Therein lies the risk of becoming “the Martyr”.
Unconditional love, and acceptance for oneself, are fundamental keys for a successful Virgo process.
How does the Total Lunar Eclipse Tie In?
The nodes of the Moon moved into Virgo/Pisces at the beginning of this year, and will remain in these signs for the next 18 months. This Full Moon in Virgo comes with a total Lunar eclipse, the first in a series. Conjunct the South Node of the Moon we are looking at themes of release, and letting go. What is it we are moving away from? The shadow side of Virgo is a good place to begin. It’s time to release shame, guilt, unproductive worry, and feelings of unworthiness. It’s time to name the unrealistic expectations of perfection we’ve been unconsciously measuring ourselves against. Intentionally clearing these old patterns from our lives makes room for something else. What are we brining in to our lives?
The North Node is in Pisces, along with the Sun, Neptune, and Saturn! It’s a Pisces party! What is Pisces about? The creative imagination, the dream, the mystical realm, the realm of spirit. Call it God, your angels, your higher self, Love, the Creative Lifeforce of the Universe…
By clearing out old Virgo patterns we are creating room for this energy to come through our lives.
Another way I’ve heard this said is “let go and let God”, or “get out of your own way”.
The Bigger Picture
The first part of 2025 involves Mars, Venus, and Mercury in retrograde. New chapters often begin with a review of the past. This year is certainly no exception, therefore let us see it as the beginning of something great!
Mercury Retrograde
As always, this is a moment in the midst of a larger framework. Let’s add some context.
Juuuust in case you’ve been feeling stalled, indecisive, or as if something needs to be reworked…
Mercury, Virgo’s favorite planet, is stationing retrograde with the Full Moon.
Between March 14 and April 7 we’ll be re-thinking the part of our chart that Mercury is moving though… 9°35’ of Aries back to 26°50’ of Pisces. Aries is the spark of initiation, and bold moves forward, Pisces is the vision and the inspiration for the forward movement. So, we’re going back to revisit the vision of something in our lives that we’ll soon be ready to act upon.
Venus retrograde: As a reminder, Venus has been retrograde since the beginning of the month, and will remain so until April 12, when we have a Full Moon in Libra. Venus represents our relationships, our values, and our art. If you’ve been rethinking relationship or work dynamics… you’re right on track, and please take your time. How might this Virgo Full Moon/Eclipse support you in releasing old patterns so that you can better align your life with your values? The hard work involved now sets us up for significant upgrades.
Spring Equinox: On March 19 the Sun Moves into Aries. Happy Astrological New Year! The beginning of a new cycle! Pay attention to this energy as these early degrees of Aries will be a hot topic in the coming months. Time for bold new moves!
Neptune enters Aries: Before March closes out, Neptune will ingress into the sign of Aries. This is a HUGE cosmic shift. In the fall it will retrograde back into Pisces for a few months, before solidly moving into Aries in early 2026.
This indicates a time of making bold moves towards our dreams.
More on this to come... in fact, I’m going to include a link below to an Astrology Hub podcast featuring the amazing Natasha Altar, as she discusses the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries that we are building up to in February 2026.
For now, I’ll just say… it's time to stop playing small folks! The work we are doing now is foundational in creating opportunities for exciting change. So, if you’re feeling this Full Moon/South Node eclipse energy, chances are you’ve got old yucks rising to the circumstantial surface of your life.
Don't be surprised if the body responds in varius ways as well. Women, the timing of menstrual cycles can shift with eclipses. Also, while I wish you all health, if you find yourself feeling physically unwell, consider asking your body if it has a message for you related these themes.
Though it's not fun dealing with shame, self-doubt, and other Virgo shadows, there’s an opportunity for healing, and abundant growth.
In a Lunar eclipse the Earth stands between the Sun and the Moon. We can’t see the Moon because of our own shadow. It's time to get out of our own way and let the Light pour through!
Wishing you all the best!
Love,
Elizabeth
