Musings On... the New Moon in Libra

Aloha and Happy New Moon in Libra!  This is a time to celebrate beauty, peace, and love!  How lovely!  Take in a beautiful sunrise, or sunset, enjoy special time with friends, and beautify your space. 

Libra’s aim is harmony.  Beauty and friendship both lend themselves to an inner sense of harmony.  Libra is also about equality, and justice.  Think about the scales, weighing equal opposites.  Always seeing two sides, Libra knows that opposites can both be true, hence an appreciation for paradox. 

On this note, one paradoxical truth is that sometimes peace requires confrontation. While we are very much in a Libra time, a time aimed at peace, there is much in this chart reflecting a need to find our voices, and speak the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. It may be productive to conduct an inner survey, and notice any ways we've sacrificed too much for the sake of "keeping the peace".

Not everyone will appreciate hearing what needs to be said, but avoiding confrontation for the sake of peace  doesn’t really bring peace.  We don’t have to get in people’s faces, we don’t have to be loud, we don't need to be ugly towards anyone.  With diplomacy, with a desire to see all life honored (including our own), we do need to speak to what is real, and represent what we value.

Libra is the 7th sign. It’s the first sign in the zodiac that looks outward towards others, rather than inward towards ourselves. With this “others” orientation, we contemplate both what we need in relationships, and what kind of friend, or partner we want to be for others.

There’s a way to be integrated with others without losing ourselves.  There’s a way to maintain self-respect while also caring for those around us.  It looks like being willing to be honest, even when it's uncomfortable. 

When we honor what is just and true, balance is restored, and there is peace.
