Happy Full Moon in Leo!
This one is punchy… not a dull moment wasted on this Lunation.
Square Uranus in Taurus… What is the evolutionary aim? What learning lies in the mix?
First, let’s trace our way back to the New Moon in Aquarius on January 29.
We spoke of the snake shedding its skin as a metaphor for us shedding old ideas and perspectives that we’ve outgrown.
Aligning with new beginnings such as Imbolc and the Chinese New Year, it felt like a celebratory time. And yet, does a snake shedding skin feel comfortable?
Shedding is a vulnerable time for the snake, as the new skin is more tender than the old. For this reason, in the wild, they’ll take shelter until the process is complete.
There's something about this Moon cycle… it has to do with bringing unconscious material from the darkness out into the light so that we can see it clearly. Remember, at the New Moon, Mercury was conjunct Pluto. (Mercury the Mind, and Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, planet of transformation) Now, at the Full Moon, Mercury conjuncts the Sun in Aquarius. It is “in the light”.
This process involves us touching the inner wound of the psyche, so that we can lift it up into the light of our knowing, thus becoming whole.
When we are whole, we are “full of ourselves” in the best way possible.
That phrase reminds me of… Leo! (everyone has this sign in their chart somewhere!) So here's a little love note to Leo:
Dear Leo,
You cannot help but be yourself, and for that we adore you. In truth, you must be yourself, even if you don’t always receive the recognition your heart translates as love. You must be yourself because your highest evolutionary aim is to leave tangible evidence of your inner process in the hands of the world. This is your grand act of creation. The gift you give requires authenticity. In truth, the gift you give is YOU, and that is an act of vulnerability, courage, and Love. Thank you. PS. You're totally fabulous and we love you!
The Sun rules Leo and thus rules this Lunation from the sign of Aquarius. Conjunct Mercury, and of course situated 180° opposite the Moon, we are being streeeeetched right now. Stretched to be true to ourselves, no matter the cost. Stretched to open to new ideas and inspirations.
And, to add some excitement sauce to the mix, Uranus, ruler of Aquarius is in a very tight square to this Full Moon.
On stage now, Uranus! “Expect the unexpected”. Chaos, sudden change, upheaval, lightning bolts, earthquakes… These are the sentiments Uranus brings. Why?? To help us tune in to our priorities, and remember what matters to us the most.
Breakdowns are not prerequisites for breakthroughs, and I'm not suggesting that Uranus always brings disaster. It doesn't. But if it feels like things are falling apart, remember this is sometimes the way Uranus creates an opening for healthy change. As a metaphor, when natural disasters force evacuation, people act quickly and decisively, on instinct, to prioritize. What to grab? What is most central to your life, and worth saving? What is not worth saving?
In Uranian times I believe we are given the gift of learning the key components of who we are deep in our soul, and what matters the most to us. We learn what is worth standing for and protecting, and consequently what needs releasing, as we pare down to the essentials.
In Taurus I feel like the symbolism speaks both to getting "unstuck" from patterns that bring false security, as well as learning to heed the wisdom of our inner, wild instinct.
So to shine in full, true, authenticity, Leo, you must know thyself. It’s time to release the old ideas and stories of who we think we are, or who’ve we mistaken ourselves to be, or who other people told us we were, or ….
This is the skin we are shedding, so our authentic self can shine forward.
It may be a tender and risky process, but I read something today that seemed relevant. Here’s the gist. Life without risk might be comfortable, but that can also become a cage. And security isn’t the same as fulfillment. The point isn’t to take unnecessary risks. The point is that if we feel we’re out of our comfort zone, it might not necessarily be a bad thing. It might mean we’re breaking new ground, expanding, and feeling our new skin.
Cheers!
Happy Full Moon in Leo. May you be unapologetically yourself. May you shine in all of your breathtakingly beautiful authenticity. May you know yourself, fully, and may that truth set you free. : )
